A closer look at Copper CRM

Let's take a closer look at some of Copper CRM's popular features.

Mail merge

If you haven't guessed already, Copper CRM has a mail merge system design limited to Gmail.  This means its mail merge system doesn't allow you to connect your Copper CRM to other email domains outside of G suite. There are three main features that support their mail merge function.

  • Bulk email support (with limitations to Gmail send limits),
  • Email templates and workflows,
  • Email automations.

1. Bulk email support

If you want to send bulk emails, you're limited to Gmail's daily bulk send limits. The only third party integrations it supports in this context is Yet Another Mail Merge (YAMM) but you'll need a separate YAMM price plan to use it and there are limitations to bulk sending depending on your Copper subscription plan.

2. Email templates

You can create custom email templates and personalize these messages using merge fields. You can access these templates through Copper's Gmail Chrome extension. There's also an option to create a workflow specifically for your email templates based on what questions are the most repetitive.

3. Email automations

Email automations are only available for customers on the Professional and Business subscriptions. Both plans will give you access to an automation that sends a single email – business plan subscribers will also have the option to add steps to their automation and create a series of email sequences.

Contact management

Copper CRM organizes all your emails, files, notes and calls for separate contacts to give you a full overview of your interactions and relationship history. Below are its supporting features.

  • No manual data entry
  • Segmentation
  • Interaction overview and history.
  • Contact capture form

1. No more manual data entry

Copper CRM can suggest recent contacts you interacted with to your your email list so you don't lose track of anyone. It can also pull contact details so you don't have to spend time doing it manually.

2. Segmentation

Copper Allows you to tag, filter and sort leads and customer data by criteria. This can also be used to help analyze team activity. You can create contact lists by type such as job title or priority, or by targeted communications such as industry, geographic and company size.

3. Interaction overview and history

Copper tracks and shares a live activity feed of all your interactions that can be organized by contact profile including recent attachments sent.

4. Contact capture form

If you use Copper's contact form widget on your website, it can help you capture their visitor information, contact information and nurture new relationships.

Pipeline management

You can use pipelines in Copper as project management tools or deal tracking directly in your Gmail. It can also be used to help track and sort deals by value, win probability and priority.

Workflow process

Workflow automation is in available but has a strong focus on a supporting sales team with features including calculating commission, won opportunity monitoring, sales reporting and project management.

Sales automation features

Copper has features designed to save your busy sales team time and optimize their workflow process with features such as logging calls, meetings, tasks and activites as well as reminders to attach files.

Marketing automation features

Copper has a strong focus on sales automation and sales team support, so there aren't many marketing automation features available besides email building. Instead of acting as an all-in-one tool, it's designed to support an existing marketing tech stack you might already have.

Conclusion

Copper CRM is a robust tool for businesses that are deeply embedded in the Google ecosystem and value simplicity and efficiency in their CRM processes. While it may not offer the level of customization that some businesses may require, it can be a useful CRM for fans of Google apps and workspaces, offering them seamless integration and a flat learning curve for those already familiar with the Google interface.
